Costa Rica in a Whirlwind

Costa Rica is a gorgeous country with lots of lush greenery, tropical landscapes and wild animals. I went to Costa Rica over a long weekend and while it is not nearly enough time to see this country, there are plenty of things you can fit into a 3-day whirlwind trip.

GO ON A NATURE WALK

Costa Rica has a tropical climate, which means lots of different plants and beautiful landscape. Take a nature walk through the rainforest and you’ll find hidden waterfalls and unique plants.

ZIPLINE THROUGH THE RAINFOREST

This is probably the first thing people think of when they hear Costa Rica. There’s nothing like zipping through the rainforest above the trees and getting a bird’s eye view of the trees. Ziplining is a must!

RELAX ON THE BEACH

There are lots of different beaches to choose from. Take an afternoon to relax, dip in the water and take in the rays.

TRY SOME TROPICAL FOODS AND FRUITS

Yes, this is a tropical twist on a sushi roll! The fruit in Costa Rica is fresh and delicious—my favorite is star fruit!

TAKE A 4-WHEELER OUT TO EXPLORE

A great way to take in the scenery is by taking a 4-wheeler out to the countryside. You’ll get to see places you wouldn’t have been able to see by walking or taking a car and it’s a fun way to explore.

TAKE IN THE SCENERY OF COSTA RICA

The landscape here is gorgeous. Make sure to get out and see it by taking a 4-wheeler, hiking or going by horseback.

GO TO A BLACK SAND BEACH

Seek out something unique and find a black sand beach! Costa Rica has several and they are something unique that you won’t get everywhere. The one pictured isn’t entirely black but it was still fascinating to see.

CHECK OUT THE COSTA RICAN WILDLIFE

Wildlife is everywhere and the best part is that they are indeed wild. Just by taking a hike through the jungle, we saw monkeys swinging overhead and a toucan in a tree! There was also an enormous iguana by the beach.

GO HORSEBACK RIDING THROUGH THE COUNTRYSIDE

If you aren’t a fan of 4-wheelers, taking a horse through the countryside is a nice alternative. Again, it’s a great way to get out into the wilderness and see the beauty of the country.

Have you been to Costa Rica before? What was your favorite thing to do there?
